Our story
One community. One mission. One for the Lord.
One for the Lord was founded on the belief that every person — regardless of circumstance — deserves dignity, safety, and hope.
Why we exist
One for the Lord began with a simple conviction: that the church and community could work together to solve the housing crisis one family at a time. What started as a small thrift store using storage units and Corey's garage has grown into a recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit serving people in the communities we serve.
Our model is unique. The thrift store is not just a charity shop — it is a self-sustaining revenue engine that funds our housing subsidy program. Every donated sweater, every piece of furniture, every book sold becomes a night of shelter, a month of rent, a family kept together.
What we believe
Dignity for all
Every person we serve is made in the image of God and deserves to be treated with respect and compassion.
Radical transparency
We publish our financials, share our outcomes, and hold ourselves accountable to the donors and community who trust us.
Community-rooted
We are not outsiders parachuting in. We live here, worship here, and are committed to this community for the long haul.
Faith-driven service
Our work is motivated by faith — the conviction that caring for the vulnerable is an act of worship.
The people behind the mission
Our staff and board are drawn from the community we serve — neighbors helping neighbors.
